Our actions are focused on the basic idea of protection of the ethnic identity of the community, and at the same time allow modern growth and development without stress to the ethnic linguistic & cultural fibre. We believe it is achievable with actions taken towards building self-sustaining models for (a) growth and development of the language through literary activities and awareness, and (b) the protection of the geo-political entity of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community by keeping them connected to their roots. This would require more and more community level activities directed towards the growth of their socio-economic, socio-cultural and political status at their ancestral habitats and thus revitalize the nourishing agents feeding the roots.

The Bishnupriya Manipuris

The Meiteis and the Bishnupriyas are descendants of two distinct races coming from two different directions. The Меiteіѕ belong to the Mongoloid group and the Bishnupriyas are of the Indo-Aryan stock. The Meitei language developed from the Tibeto-Burman language group and Bishnupriya Manipuri language finds it root in the Маgadhi Рrakrita stem of the Indo-Aryan laguage group.
